BUCKLEYS CREEK - Much-improved Prestonsburg is on its second win streak of the season. Prestonsburg posted its second straight win on Tuesday night, outlasting host Pike County Central 66-59.
The Lady Blackcats, who improved to 8-17 with the win, battled back from behind. Pike County Central took a lead out of each of the first three quarters.
After faltering late, Pike County Central slipped to 6-16.
Earlier in the season, Prestonsburg, team under the tutelage of first-year head coach Brandon Gearheart, compiled a three-game winning streak.
Dominating late, Prestonsburg doubled up Pike County Central 24-12 in the final quarter to claim the win.
Tiffany Meadows led Prestonsburg with a game-high 18 points. Directly behind Meadows, Jana Jarvis netted 17 points for the Lady Blackcats. Following Jarvis in the Prestonsburg scoring column, Shantel Collins contributed 13 points.
Pike County Central outscored Prestonsburg 17-12 in the first quarter and led 35-29 at halftime.
The Lady Hawks led 47-42 at the end of the third quarter.
In one of its best single-quarter performances of the season, Prestonsburg thrived offensively and delivered numerous defensive stops in the fourth period.
Cassidy Mullins paced Pike Couny Central with 14 points. Taylor Hamilton tossed in 12 points and Patience Ray added 10 for the Lady Hawks.
