FRANKFORT - Former champion Betsy Layne is in pursuit of another Touchstone Energy All “A” Classic title. The Bobcats eliminated 4th Region Glasgow from the Touchstone Energy All “A” Classic on Thursday evening, pulling away to win 56-47.


With the win, Betsy Layne advanced to meet 13th Region champion Jackson County on Friday night.


Dylan Meade, a senior guard, led Betsy Layne with a game-high 17 points. Peyton Case pushed in 13 points and Dustin Rogers added 11 as three different Betsy Layne players reached double figures in the scoring column.


After the first quarter ended with the two teams tied 11-11, Betsy Layne outscored Glasgow 18-11 to take a 29-22 lead into halftime.


The Bobcats, under the guidance of veteran head coach Junior Newsome, led 41-35 at the conclusion of the third quarter.


Dylan Hamilton and Dalton Meade chipped in six points apiece for the Bobcats. Aiding the Betsy Layne attack, Dalton Maldonado scored two points and Andrew Tackett connected on a free throw.


Betsy Layne shot 50.0 percent (24 of 48) from the field. The Bobcats were three of 14 from 3-point range.


Betsy Layne overcame shooting just 23.8 percent (five of 21) from the foul line.


Glasgow also featured three scorers in double figures. Senior guard Anthony Walker led Glasgow with 15 points. Following Walker in the Glasgow scoring column, Quentel Bradley scored 11 points and Milas Norris netted 10 for the Scotties.


Connor Glass scored seven points while Julius Shirley and Dalvin Smith added two apiece for Glasgow in the loss.


Glasgow shot 33.9 percent (15 of 56) from the field.


In the other opening round games in the boys’ Touchstone Energy All “A” Classic it was Lexington Christian Academy 62, Elliott County 47; Louisville Holy Cross 68, University Heights 55; Green County 69, Kentucky Country Day 66; Newport Central Catholic 60, Owensboro Catholic 39; Jackson County 65, Somerset 61; Cordia 72, Carroll County 42 and St. Mary 38, Bishop Brossart 36
