HI HAT - The South Floyd Lady Raiders dropped four games in the Berea Holiday Classic last week. South Floyd suffered losses to Whitley County, 15th Region counterpart Pikeville, West Jessamine and Model during the Berea Holiday Classic, which also featured Lewis County, Woodford County, Rowan County, Madison Central, Madison Southern, Wayne County, Perru County Central, Corbin, Powell County, Somerset and Harlan County.

In the opening round of the Berea Holiday Classic on Friday, Dec. 20, Whitley County toppled the Lady Raiders 65-14.

On Saturday, Pikeville beat South Floyd 69-25 and West Jessamine walloped the Lady Raiders 50-33.

Model prevented South Floyd from claiming a win in the Berea-hosted tournament, toppling the Lady Raiders 67-42 in the final round on Sunday.

The South Floyd girls’ basketball team, under the tutelage of second-year head coach Justin Triplett, took a 2-8 record out of the Berea Holiday Classic.

South Floyd is now competing in the Prestonsburg Holiday Classic. A South Floyd- Sheldon Clark girls’ basketball game that was being played as part of the Prestonsburg Holiday Classic on Thursday evening ended too late to make this edition.

The Lady Raiders will meet Phelps in the opening round of the 15th Region All “A” Classic on Jan. 4 at the East Kentucky Expo Center in downtown Pikeville.
