PHELPS - South Floyd notched its second straight win late last week. Tyler Daniels scored 27 points and Austin Bailey added 26 as visiting South Floyd defeated 16th Region rival Phelps 90-64 on Friday night.
J.R. Tackett tossed in 12 points and Hunter Johnson added 10 as four different South Floyd players reached double figures in the scoring column.
South Floyd set the tone early, outscoring Phelps 29-14 in the opening quarter. The Raiders outscored Phelps 19-13 in the second quarter to lead 48-33 at halftime.
South Floyd, a team under the direction of second-year head coach Justin Holbrook, added to its lead early in the second half, outscoring Phelps 18-13 in the third quarter.
Daniels led South Floyd on the boards with a game-high eight rebounds.
Tackett dished out a game-high seven assists for the Raiders.
Mack Little (five points), Brady Ousley (four points), Michael Martin (two points), Chase Caudill (two points) and Jacob Collins (two points) added scoring for the Raiders.
South Floyd was scheduled to host longtime 15th Region rival Paintsville for a home opener on Tuesday night. The status of the South Floyd-Paintsville boys’ basketball game was not known at press time.
