EASTERN - The Allen Central High School boys’ basketball program will host its annual panorama at J.E. Campbell Arena on Wednesday, Nov. 27. The tradition-rich Allen Central panorama is held annually on the night before Thanksgiving.

Phelps, Greenup County, Piarist School, Prestonsburg, Morgan County, June Buchanan and Magoffin County are set to join Allen Central for the panorama.

Allen Central opened preseason practice in mid-October and head coach Brad Short feels his Rebels have improved.

“Practice is going good,” Short said. “We should be a lot better team this year. We have some guys that have really came along and are improving. We are still a little small but overall I am very pleased with the way things are going so far.”

Allen Central ended the 2012-13 season 5-24. The Rebels compete with Betsy Layne (19-10), Prestonsburg (14-19), South Floyd (6-23) and Piarist School (4-21) in the crowded 58th District.

Senior forward Cameron Hamilton and senior guard Junior Handshoe are back to provide leadership for the Rebels. Leading scorer Mason Nelson (12.6 ppg) is also back for the Allen Central boys’ basketball team.

Devan Horn (Jr., G), Jared Hamilton (Sr., G), Tyler Keens (Sr., C) and Dillon Lawson (Jr., G) are other returnees for the Rebels.

Allen Central lost only one player to graduation.

High school basketball teams from throughout the area and across the state will make their 2013-14 debuts during the first week of December.
