BEREA – The University of Pikeville Cross Country teams competed at the Berea Invitational on Saturday where the men finished seventh out of nine teams and the women placed seventh out of 11.
On the men’s side, Trenton Whitaker paced the Bears in 61st place overall with a time of 33 minutes and one second. Kyle Allen was next in 68th place with a showing of 35:17, Cody Ryne finished 71st in 36:20 and John Valencourt crossed the finish line with a time of 36:53 to claim 73rd. Bradley Louder rounded out the finishers in 74th place with a time of 38:42.
Tennessee Wesleyan won the invitational with 27 points, Berea was second with 71 and Campbellsville took third with 81. Lindsey Wilson’s John-Paul Williamson took the individual title with a showing of 26:12.
For the women, Molly Frank had the best UPIKE finish, taking 17th place with a time of 22:05. Behind her was Jobeth Bingham taking 61st in 26:42, Kourtney Winner crossing in 62nd place with a time of 27:15 and Jillian Senters placing 65th in 27:48. Kasi Watson (28:24) and Yen Lin Trinb (30:27) rounded out the Bears finishers in 70th and 73rd place, respectively.
Asbury’s (Ky.) Katy Falkenberg took top honors with a showing of 20:07, while the Eagles also took the team title with 38 points. Tennessee Wesleyan finished second with 66 points and Campbellsville was third with 71.
