PIKEVILLE - University of Pikeville quarterback A.J. Graham is the Mid-South Conference Offensive Player of the Week, league officials announced on Monday.
Graham accounted for five UPIKE touchdowns in the Bears’ 47-41 overtime win at Edward Waters (Fla.) on Saturday to earn his first weekly honor and the first for Pikeville since 2011.
The Tallahassee, Fla., junior completed 20 of 32 passes for 285 yards and three touchdowns and added 44 yards and two scores on the ground to help the Bears remain perfect at 3-0.
Graham has completed 64.3 percent of his passes this season for 376 yards - ranking fifth in the MSC. He is also fifth in the conference with 471 yards of total offense.
Larry West was the last weekly award recipient for UPIKE, earning a defensive honor during the 2011 season, while current graduate assistant and former quarterback Trevor Hoskins captured the last offensive award on Sept. 26, 2011. Hoskins was the NAIA national player of the week as well.
Reinhardt’s (Ga.) Blake Barnes is the defensive player of the week and Cumberlands’ (Ky.) Weston Hazlehurst earned the special teams award.
