PRESTONSBURG - It didn’t take the Betsy Layne Ladycats long to return to the win column. After being eliminated from the 15th Region All “A” Classic by longtime rival Allen Central, Betsy Layne notched a win over another 58th District/Floyd County Conference foe on Wednesday, defeating host Prestonsburg 3-0 at the Fieldhouse.


The Ladycats prevailed in three straight games, winning 25-18, 25-17, 25-6.


Cecilia Ray delivered 15 service aces and 10 assists for the Ladycats. Alex Hunter added 10 service aces for Betsy Layne in the win.


Allie Meade registered seven kills for the Ladycats, who improved to 6-1.


Defensively, Ray and Katie Williams each had three digs for the Ladycats.


Lakeisha Crum, Emily Kidd, Kayce Tackett, Alex Hunter and Kassidy Harmon also contributed for Betsy Layne in the winning effort.


Betsy Layne put together multiple runs in each of the three games.


The Ladycats will return to action on Monday when they visit 15th Region counterpart Pike County Central.
