PIKEVILLE – The University of Pikeville will host an evening of live piano music.


Phillip Todd Westgate, associate professor of music, will present a solo piano recital on Tuesday, Sept. 3, at 7 p.m. in Booth Auditorium. The audience will have an opportunity to experience the music from a perspective typically reserved for the performer as they will be seated on stage during the performance.


“There is a vast library of piano repertoire that is very beautiful and the opportunity to experience part of this music in a live acoustic setting is something that will leave a musical impression that is lasting,” said Westgate.


The program will include works for solo piano by Joseph Haydn, Sergei Rachmaninoff and Frederic Chopin. The university has a nice collection of keyboard instruments and this recital with be performed on a Steinway Model B.
