The former principal of Osborne Elementary is taking on a new role, one that will put him at the helm of lunchrooms in every school in teh county.

Dale Pack has been named director of food service and nutrition for Floyd County Schools, the district announced Wednesday.

Pack said the transition is one of mixed emotions.

“Moving into this new role is bittersweet,” Pack said. “While I will greatly miss the students, staff and parents at Osborne Elementary, I look forward to the challenge of this new job. I‘ve always tried and will continue to try to do what’s best for our kids, regardless of the title I have.”

Pack is in his 24th year as an educator, six of those being as a principal. He has worked in Menifee County, at the former Melvin Elementary and the remainder of his time has been at Osborne Elementary.

Supt. Henry Webb said that he expects Pack to bring his record of achievement into the food service office.

“Mr. Pack has been part of the administrative team in Floyd County for years, serving as principal at Osborne Elementary,” Webb said. “Under his leadership, Osborne has been a school of excellence in Floyd County, being one of our ‘Distinguished’ schools.”

Pack and his wife, Sherry, have one son, Jordan.
