PRESTONSBURG — Floyd County Chamber of Commerce members and several figures of the community stopped by Castle’s Roofing and Siding on Monday for an official grand opening celebration, including the ceremonial ribbon cutting.

Business owner Frank Castle took the oversized scissors and snipped the ribbon, welcoming this new store on South Lake Drive to his other location in Paintsville.

Frank’s daughter Laura Castle says the store sells all manner of roofing, siding, insulation, gutters, and tools. They are an authorized dealer for Cub Cadet’s line of lawn mowers and utility vehicles, and they offer an in-house service department for such equipment.

Chamber of Commerce representative Kathy King Allen helped organize the event. Allen says she’s happy to welcome another business to Prestonsburg’s growing downtown and another member to the local Chamber.

Mayor Jerry Fannin said that he was glad to see new Castle choose Prestonsburg as the place to expand his business, especially as the local economy continues its tenuous recovery. “We’re starting to see a lot of the empty buildings we used to have are filling up,” Fannin said.
