MAYTOWN — Twelve weeks after the Fast Lane convenience store at Eastern was the site of an armed robbery, an arrest has been made in the case.
Jordan K. Ward, 21, of Prestonsburg, has been arrested and charged with second-degree robbery in connection with the Jan. 14 crime.
According to the arrest warrant, Ward allegedly was one of three people who targeted the store. Kentucky State Police Trooper Jake Roberts, who arrested Ward, alleges that Ward and the other two robbers used a knife to force a cashier to give them $500 in cash.
When originally reported, police said only two people were involved in the robbery.
Shortly before 11 p.m., Jan. 14, Kentucky State Police received a report of an armed robbery at the Fast Lane store in Eastern.
Police responding to the scene learned that two men entered the business and, while one man brandished a weapon and demanded money, the other kept watch on the store’s entrance. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, the two men fled the store on foot, heading toward Route 550.
Police say one man was described as wearing a red, hooded shirt, khaki jeans, work boots and a dark-colored scarf over his face. The other was wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and a dark scarf over his face.
No one was injured during the incident.
Ward is scheduled to appear in Floyd District Court on Tuesday.
