WHEELWRIGHT — A Knott County couple found themselves in facing legal trouble, after being pulled over in Wheelwright.
Bobby J. Loper, 48, of Topmost, was driving near Hall Street around 10 p.m., Saturday, when she was pulled over by a Wheelwright police officer.
According to court records, Loper gave the officer consent to search her purse, at which time the officer found a small plastic bag containing white powder. According to the arrest report, Loper told the officer the substance was cocaine.
The officer also searched a passenger in Loper’s car, John W. Loper, 47, of Topmost, and found a small plastic bag of marijuana in his jacket pocket. The arrest report notes that John Loper told the officer that he had smoked marijuana, drank alcohol and took eight Neurontin tablets, prior to the traffic stop.
Bobby Loper was arrested and charged with a felony count of possession of cocaine. John Loper was arrested and charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana and public intoxication.
Both were released from jail on unsecured bonds, following their arraignments on Monday. They are next scheduled to appear in court April 2.
