COVINGTON – Speaker of the House Greg Stumbo (D-Prestonsburg) was honored with a “Friend of Kentucky Cities” award last week at the 2013 Kentucky League of Cities Conference & Expo. The “Friend of Kentucky Cities” award is given by KLC to legislators who perform outstanding work in the legislature advocating for issues that impact cities across the state.

“I want to thank the Kentucky League of Cities for this honor, and for recognizing the other legislators as well for the work we do to help our communities prosper. We cannot succeed as a commonwealth if our cities lack the resources they need,” said House Speaker Greg Stumbo.

“KLC appreciated his sponsorship and support of House Bill 1 this session. The bill provides transparency for those entities that operate outside of state and local governmental bodies,” said J.D. Chaney, KLC Chief Governmental Affairs Officer.

Jon Steiner, Executive Director/CEO of the Kentucky League of Cities, also commended Speaker Stumbo. “Cities would also like to recognize his leadership and his efforts to reach a bipartisan solution on retirement reform. He is a true friend of Kentucky cities.”
