The West Virginia State Police and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern West Virginia have partnered to host the 1st Annual McTrooper 5K to be held on October 12, 2013 at the Ronald McDonald House in Kanawha City.

The purpose of the McTrooper 5K is to promote the House’s mission of providing a home-away-from-home for families of ill children.

Trooper Eric Workman’s sister, Rebecca King, has teamed up to participate in the McTrooper 5K.

In August 2012, Trooper Workman and Cpl. Marshall Lee Bailey were fatally shot in the line of duty during a traffic stop.

Trooper Workman was very active in community service, and Rebecca wanted to honor her brother and bring awareness to the mission of the Ronald McDonald House by

wearing Trooper Workman’s badge number.

The McTrooper 5K is designed to be a fun, family-oriented event so all individuals are encouraged to participate regardless of fitness level. To pre-register and for more information about the McTrooper 5K, visit www.McTrooperRun.com. Individuals may also register at the Ronald McDonald House on race day beginning at 8:00 am.
