Community Trust Bank in Virgie robbed

VIRGIE - Kentucky State Police are on the lookout for a unidentified man after an armed bank robbery in the Virgie community Thursday.


According to Kentucky State Police officials, Post 9, Pikeville received a call of an armed robbery at the Community Trust Bank in the Virgie community of Pike County.


KSP Troopers and detectives responded to the business and immediately began canvassing the area. Information obtained at the scene indicates that an unidentified male entered the business, brandished a weapon, demanded cash and fled the scene on foot.


The unidentified male was described as wearing a white hooded sweatshirt with his face covered. This incident remains under investigation by KSP Detective Kevin Newsome. Detectives have not stated whether or not the subject escaped with any money.
