PRESTONSBURG — Two Prestonsburg residents were indicted this week, after a Floyd County grand jury was presented with enough evidence to try the individuals for criminal abuse.

Jordan Addison, 22, of Prestonsburg, was indicted on two counts of first-degree criminal abuse by the grand jury on Tuesday.

According to the indictment, Addison intentionally abused or permitted the abuse of two children under the age of 12. The indictment states that Addison had actual custody of the children, and “thereby caused torture or cruel punishment.”

Erica Waddles, 23, of Prestonsburg, was also indicted for one count of complicity to first-degree criminal abuse in connection with the case. According to her indictment, she aided, counseled, or attempted to aid Jordan Addison in planning, or committing intentional abuse of one of the minor children.

An indictment is found and presented by a grand jury legally convened and sworn. It originates with a prosecutor and is issued by a grand jury against an individual who is charged with a crime. To bring an indictment the grand jury will not find guilt, but only the probability that a crime was committed, that the accused person did it, and that he/she should be tried.
