PRESTONSBURG — Another season comes to a close this weekend, as Billie Jean’s Kentucky Opry Christmas ends its run, but for Junior Pro Jacob Chaney, the experience will last a lifetime.
Jacob, a 16 year-old student at Johnson Central High School, is in his first year with the Junior Pros, but says the experience has been a memorable one.
“This has definitely been a great experience,” says Jacob. “Getting to meeting and interact with the band, and learn new music. Its just been great meeting new people, and been a lot of fun.”
Jacob is the son of James and Julie Chaney of Robinson Creek, and Wendi and Danny Vanhoose of Tutor Key and is a member of East Point Church of Christ.
Jacob, who plays guitar, says he draws inspiration from a number of musicians. “There are so many great guitarist out there, but my favorite has to be Eric Clapton.”
When not performing with the Junior Pros, Jacob is also a member of the varsity soccer team, and marching band, and also plays saxophone and banjo.
Jacob is also a member of Crossroads, along with Jr. Pro’s Clarke Sexton, Matthew Barber, and Tyler Benge.
After his first season with the Junior Pros, Jacob is hoping to return again next year. “I love getting to groove with the band. It is so much fun. There is really nothing like it.”
Jacob will join the rest of the Junior Pros on stage this weekend for the final performances of Billie Jean Osborne’s Kentucky Opry Christmas. Having received fantastic praise in and out of the community, this is one show you don’t want to miss.
