ASHLAND– The 2014 Regional Cancer Conference, sponsored by King’s Daughters Medical Center, brings local and national speakers to Ashland, presenting on the latest topics in the care and treatment of patients with cancer.


The all-day professional conference begins with registration and continental breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, in the Health Education Center on King’s Daughters main campus, 2201 Lexington Ave., Ashland.


Registration is $20 and includes conference materials, continuing education credits, continental breakfast and lunch. The program has been approved by the Kentucky Board of Nursing for 8.4 contact hours and by the Kentucky Heart Foundation for 6.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s).


The registration deadline is Monday, Sept. 8. The conference brochure and online registration is available online at kdmc.com/register.

· It Takes More than a Pill … to be Well, Charl Van Wyck, M.D., radiologist on staff at King’s Daughters.


· Chemo-Predictive Assay for Patients with Malignant Solid Tumors, Pier Paolo Claudio, M.D., associate professor of biochemistry and microbiology, Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine.


· Chemotherapy in the Elderly, Eduardo Pike Siccion, M.D., assistant clinical professor, department of Medical Oncology, City of Hope, Duarte, Calif.


· Varied Approaches to Multidisciplinary Management of Elderly State HER2-Positive Breast Cancer, Edward H. Romond, M.D., professor of medicine, University of Kentucky College of Medicine/Markey Cancer Center.


· Nutritional Management of Side Effects in Cancer Treatment, Amy McFann, R.D., L.D., dietitian on staff at KDMC.


· Cancer and Exercise, Ryan Ison, B.S., M.S., exercise physiologist, orthopaedics/neuromedicine service line director for KDMC.


· Inherited Cancers, Shelly Rudnick, M.S., CGC, board-certified genetic counselor, GeneDx.


· Insights into Febrile Neutropenia, Denise Holly, R.N., BSN, oncology clinical specialist with Amgen.
