ALLEN - Brandon Kinzer and his No. 18 raceteam rolled into picturesque Wythe Raceway (Rural Retreat, Va.) and 411 Motor Speedway (Seymour, Tenn.) Monday and Tuesday (July 21 and July 22) for the first two Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals Series events in the 2014 season. Kinzer fared well but encountered in the Southern Nationals Series races. The veteran dirt Late Model driver faced adversity in each feature event.
On Monday night at Wythe Raceway, Kinzer timed in fifth-fastest in Group B during qualifying. Then, he grabbed the fourth transfer spot through his consolation event. After starting the $3,500-to-win feature race from the outside of the sixth row, Kinzer suffered problems underneath of the hood of his racecar on lap 19, eventually retiring from the 35-lap race in the 18th position.
Another $3,500 top prize was on the line on Tuesday evening at 411 Motor Speedway. Debuting a brand-new MB Customs mount, Kinzer turned in the 10th-fastest lap in Group A during time trials and later secured the eighth and final transfer position through his consolation race. The Allen ace started the 35-lap main event from the inside of the 10th row but was an early retiree in the race and relegated to a 22nd place effort.
