WILLIAMSON - A Delbarton man has been arrested and is now lodged in the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden on a $100,000 full-cash bond on a single charge of second-degree sexual assault.
On Wednesday, Sgt. James Spence of the Williamson Police Department placed Jason Jonathan Dwayne Fields, 19, under arrest after a warrant had been obtained for his arrest on June 19 stemming from an alleged incident that occurred May 21 in the restroom of the Williamson Goodwill Industries store.
The criminal complaint filed by Spence in Mingo County Magistrate Court states that, on May 21, the defendant followed a 13-year-old female into the restroom of the Goodwill store, where he grabbed her around the throat and kissed her. He is accused of lifting her and setting her on the sink, where he reportedly pulled her shorts down while she was telling him to stop and to let her go.
The police report claims that Fields had nonconsensual intercourse with the teen, as she continued to plead with him to stop throughout the entire ordeal. According to the victim, the defendant not only refused to stop but lifted her off the sink, placed her on the floor and continued with the sexual assault.
Fields was arraigned before Mingo County Magistrate Dee Sidebottom and was remanded to jail, where he remains on the full-cash bond. Fields will appear back in court next week for a preliminary hearing on the felony charge.
