KSP investigating armed robbery at Dollar General store; current standoff in progress

Shots fired has been reported and the coroner has been called to the scene.

Kentucky State Police troopers are investigating a reported armed robbery at the Dollar General Store at Coldiron that occurred Friday around 8:30 p.m.

The armed robber was reported to be between 30 to 40 years old with a goatee. He fled the scene in a silver truck with a Tennessee license plate.

No official information has been released by the Kentucky State Police.

At 1 a.m. Saturday, KSP troopers were reportedly in a standoff situation with a male in a silver truck on KY 3449 in the Coldiron community of Foresters Creek. KSP troopers were called in from Bell and Knox counties and Harlan City Police officers who were available to assist.

The Kentucky State Police Special Response Team (SRT) has been summonsed to the scene and negotiations are underway. No other information is available at this time.
