EASTERN - The Prestonsburg Lady Blackcats pulled off an upset win over defending 58th District/Floyd County Conference champion Allen Central on Friday, defeating the Lady Rebels 49-48 at J.E. Campbell Arena.
Prestonsburg stopped a two-game losing streak, improving to 7-17 overall and 4-3 in the 58th District/Floyd County Conference.
Jana Jarvis led Prestonsburg with a team-high 18 points. Reesce Endicott, Tiffany Meadows, Shantel Collins scored eight points apiece and Jackie Kidd contributed seven for the Lady Blackcats.
Prestonsburg shot 43 percent (15 of 35) from the field.
The Lady Blackcats had to battle back for the win. Allen Central outscored Prestonsburg 13-8 in the first quarter and led 23-19 at halftime.
The Lady Blackcats outscored Allen Central 15-11 in the third quarter.
Allen Central suffered its second straight loss, slipping to 9-8 overall and 6-1 in the district/conference.
Deshea Elliott led Allen Central with 12 points. Elizabeth Prater scored 11 points and and Krista Parsons added 11 for the lady Rebels in the loss.
Boys - Prestonsburg 71, Allen Central 55: Dalton Frasure scored a game-high 30 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead Prestonsburg to a 71-55 win over host Allen Central J.E. Campbell Arena on Friday night.
Jarredd Jarrell scored 25 points and Jarrin Hall netted 11 as three Blackcats reached double figures in the scoring column.
Jarrell shared game-high rebounding honors with Frasure, pulling down 10 rebounds for a double-double of his own.
Prestonsburg shot 43.1 percent (22-of-51) from the field. The Blackcats were 3-of-12 from 3-point range.
Prestonsburg fared very well at the foul line, connecting on 24-of-32 free throw attempts (75.0 percent).
Blake Lemaster (two points), Jordan Ray (two points) and Scott Stapleton (one point) added scoring for the Blackcats.
