SOFT SHELL - Allen Elementary claimed the BCI Girls’ Middle School State Tournament championship during the final weekend of October, outlasting North Laurel 48-42 in the championship game at the Knott County Sportsplex. The Lady Eagles, under the direction of head coach Rick Hancock, carried a 29-1 overall record out of the tournament.
A look back at Allen’s run to the tournament title follows.
Allen 57, Martin County 25: Allen rolled past Martin County in the opening round, defeating the Lady Cardinals 57-25.
Allison Hall led Allen with 19 points, 14 rebounds and two assists.
Reesce Endicott joined Hall in double figures, finishing with 16 points.
Jana Jarvis scored seven points, pulled down five rebounds and dished out nine assists for the Lady Eagles.
Aleiah Newsome netted six points while Kassie Jarvis and Hannah Manns posted four apiece.
Allen 41, North Laurel 33: Allison Hall registered a double-double and blocked multiple shots to lead Allen to a 41-33 win over North Laurel in the second round,
Hall led the Lady Eagles with 18 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks.
Narrowly missing a double-double, Jana Jarvis scored 11 points and dished out nine assists.
Kassie Jarvis and Reesce Endicott rounded out the Allen scoring with six and two points, respectively.
Allen 48, North Laurel 42: Jana Jarvis scored 18 points and dished out seven assists to lead Allen to a hard-fought 48-42 win over familiar foe North Laurel in the championship game.
Allison Hall scored 11 points, hauled in 16 rebounds and dealt out two assists for the Lady Eagles.
Reesce Endicott finished one shot short of double figures, delivering eight points for the Allen girls’ basketball team.
Madison Rainey and Kassie Jarvis rounded out the Allen scoring with four points each.
