Highlands designated as training center for CPR certification

PRESTONSBURG – Highlands Regional Medical Center has once again been a designated Regional CPR Training Center by the American Heart Association for emergency cardiovascular care. Since 1995, Highlands has received this recognition, and currently designates and monitors over 270 CPR instructors across the region, processing all participant certification cards through its facility. In the last year alone, Highlands has processed nearly 6,000 certification cards.


Highlands is affiliated with instructors from several areas including central, eastern, northern and southern Kentucky, as well as Virginia and West Virginia. Instructors represent various school systems, colleges, hospitals, fire departments, ambulance services, health departments, nursing homes, as well as individuals from the general public.


Courses offered include Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Heartsaver, and First Aid. Classes are offered by instructors throughout the region on a regular basis, and are available to the public. Highlands Regional Medical Center along with AHA remains committed to the improvement of survival from cardiac arrest.
