HI HAT - Visiting Betsy Layne rolled on Friday night, defeating non-district county rival South Floyd 50-12 at Raider Field.

Betsy Layne improved to 5-1 after posting the win. The Bobcats returned to win column after suffering a district loss to Prestonsburg one week earlier.

South Floyd dropped to 2-4 as a result of the loss. The Raiders, who hadn’t played since Sept. 20, had a two-game winning streak halted.

Betsy Layne senior quarterback Dylan Hamilton fared well through the air, completing six of nine passes for 186 yards and three touchdowns with one interception.

Peyton Case, Lako Daniels and Dustin Rogers hauled in one touchdown reception each for the Bobcats. Case led the balanced Bobcats in receiving with three catches for 68 yards.

Houston Hall carried the Betsy Layne offense’s charge on the ground, rushing seven times for 120 yards. Zach Bowens followed with three rushes for 32 yards.

Hamilton added a one-yard rushing touchdown for the Bobcats.

In all, six different Betsy Layne players took a carry out of the offensive backfield.

Bowens led the Betsy Layne defense with a team-high 13 tackles. Both Bowens and Daniels had an interception for the Bobcats. Daniels returned his pick 66 yards for a touchdown.

Hall contributed to the Betsy Layne defensive effort with 12 tackles. Blake Rose followed with 11 tackles for the Bobcats.

Hamilton and Blake Spencer chipped in seven tackles apiece for the Betsy Layne football team.

Now, district games are looming for both Betsy Layne and South Floyd. Betsy Layne will visit Leslie County (Class 2A, District 8) on Friday while South Floyd hosts Pikeville (Class A, District 8).
