Lady Blackcats upend Belfry, fall to Lawrence County

PRESTONSBURG - The Prestonsburg girls’ soccer team returned to the win column on Thursday, defeating host Belfry 5-2. Following the win over Belfry, Prestonsburg dropped a match to Lawrence County. More on the two games involving the Prestonsburg girls’ soccer team follows.

Prestonsburg 5, Belfry 2: Prestonsburg claimed its ninth win of the season on Thursday with a 5-2 triumph over host Belfry.

Jackie Kidd paced Prestonsburg with two goals and one assist. Carly Burchett, Mckenzie Collins and Katie Porter pushed in one goal each for the Lady Blackcats.

Burchett and Porter also added one assist apiece.

Defensively, Prestonsburg goalkeeper Maddy Ousley limited Belfry to two goals.

Lawrence County 5, Prestonsburg 2: The Lady Blackcats suffered their second loss to Lawrence County in three outings on Monday as the Lady Bulldogs pulled away to win 5-2 at StoneCrest.

Shelby Hay led Lawrence County with two goals. Andrea Salyer, Kara Williamson and Mollie Workman added one goal each for the Lady Bulldogs.

Hay, Alice Hudson and Victoria Dillon delivered one assist apiece for the Lawrence County girls’ soccer team.

Lawrence County goalkeeper Catherine Clay limited Prestonsburg to two goals.

Katie Porter led Prestonsburg with two goals. Jackie Kidd contributed two assists for the Lady Blackcats.
