EAST WILLIAMSON - A Tuesday afternoon collision that occurred at the junction on Rt. 49 and U.S. Rt. 52 at the Rawl exit resulted in one person being transported to a local hospital for injuries she sustained while another received traffic citations.

According to Williamson City Police Officer J. Tincher, a 2102 Toyota Tacoma operated by Ruth White of Merrimac, failed to yield to a stop sign as she was attempting to enter U.S. 52 from Rt. 49 in East Williamson. White’s truck slammed into a 2003 Dodge Intrepid that was driven by Lucita Prater, of Red Jacket that was heading out of Williamson on U.S. Rt. 52. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage, with the Dodge receiving the worst end of it.

Prater was transported to the Williamson Memorial Hospital by STAT Ambulance and was complaining with right arm, left leg, neck and back pain. White was not injured in the mishap and refused medical treatment.

The officer administered a three-part field sobriety test to White, which she completed successfully. She was cited for expired vehicle registration and failure to yield. The Toyota was able to be driven from the scene but the Dodge had to removed from the roadway by Duba’s Wrecker Service. Members of the Williamson Fire Department responded to the scene and assisted with patient care, traffic control and road clean-up.
