City of Loyall officials continue to search for a new or used fire truck.

After a lengthy discussion during a city council meeting on Monday, Fire Chief Vern Guffy said the search has been unsuccessful.

Mayor Clarence Longworth commented on the importance of finding a truck as soon as possible so “additional state aid funds may be obtained.”

“If anyone wants to get on the Internet and search for fire trucks, please do,” said Longworth. “We won’t be getting anymore state aid money until we spend what we have in the fire department account.”

City treasurer Mandy Longworth said if the city is going to apply for a “state aid loan through the fire commission, the fire trucks have to pass a series of tests” before they can purchase another truck.

“You have to have a certification on file before they will even think about a loan,” said Mandy. “If we go through the fire commission, it’s the lowest interest rate we can get.”

The council agreed to spend $200 for an inspection on the 1986 Haun fire truck.
