Ladycats blank Sheldon Clark in opener

INEZ - Betsy Layne won its season-opener on Monday evening, shutting out Sheldon Clark 3-0 (25-11, 25-12, 25-15). The Ladycats, under the direction of head coach Christina Crase, took control early in each game and eventually pulled away t win convincingly.


A tradition-rich Kentucky high school volleyball program, Betsy Layne is a former 15th Region champion.


Lakeisha Crum, Emily Kidd, Kayve Tackett, Allie Meade, Katie Williams, Alex Hunter, Kassidy Harmon and Cecelia Ray led Betsy Layne in the season-opening win.


Betsy Layne is ranked fourth in the Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association Preseason 15th Region Top 5 Poll.


Reigning 15th Region volleyball champion Allen Central was picked to win the 2013 title. Allen Central is ranked first in the Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association (KVCA) Preseason 15th Region Top 5 Poll. The Rebels are ranked ahead of East Ridge (T-2), Pikeville (T-2), Betsy Layne and Paintsville (5).


Betsy Layne was visiting Shelby Valley on Tuesday evening. The Betsy Layne-Shelby Valley volleyball match ended too late to make this edition.


Betsy Layne will compete in the 15th Region All “A” Classic at Shelby Valley in less than two weeks.
