PIKEVILLE - The Pikeville Area YMCA is currently conducting registration for its fall flag football program. The program itinerary includes teaching basic football fundamentals such as defense, offense, passing/pass defending and hand-eye coordination.
The youth flag football league is for boys and girls ages 3-12.
Registration will continue through August 30. All registration forms along with registration fees must be completed and paid for by then. Any registration forms turned in after Aug. 30 will not guarantee a spot in the program.
Registration is being held at the Pikeville Area Family YMCA.
All games and practices will take place at the Pikeville YMCA (on the baseball fields directly in front of the YMCA). Practice days and times will be determined by the coach and youth sports director. Games will be played on Thursdays.
The registration fee is $30 for YMCA members and $45 for non-program participants.
Battle of Bob Amos 15K/5K Run and 1-Mile Walk: The Battle of Bob Amos 15K/5K Run/1 Mile Walk will be held on August 24. Awards will be given to the top finishers in each division.
Registration for the event will continue at the Pikeville Area YMCA through August 24. An additional registration session will take place the day of the event at 8 a.m. with the race beginning at 9.
The event will start at the track on Bob Amos Drive and the 15K/5K route will be marked.
The registration fee is $15 per person in advance ($20 onsite). The registration fee for children under 12 is $10 per person. Groups of five or more may preregister for $10 per person as well.
