SITKA - Historic 201 Speedway will host the Bill McCloud Memorial Bomber Race on Saturday night. The race winner will receive $1,250, thanks in part to the McCloud family.
The purse for the feature race was originally set at $1,000. The family of Bill McCloud added $200 and the Hall’s Mobile Home Movers contributed $50 to the winning purse.
The McCloud family also added $100 for the fast time and $100 for the hard charger and will give an additional $100 to a lucky child age 12 or younger.
A longtime speedplant, 201 Speedway hosted over 90 drivers and thousands of fans this past weekend when the Southern Regional Racing Series visited to stage the Southern Steel Moonshiners 50.
The historic 201 Speedway has been named the DIRT Tracking Southern Style Track of the Year. The Johnson County track was selected from a field of over 500 tracks.
