CAMPBELLSVILLE - Lindsey Wilson College and three individuals associated with the Mid-South Conference were honored on Wednesday at the conference’s annual summer meeting at the Winters Dining Hall on the Campbellsville University campus.
Lindsey Wilson officially received the Mid-South President’s Cup after the Blue Raiders won the school’s third all-sports competition following the play during the 2012-13 academic year.
“Lindsey Wilson had a terrific year and I would like to congratulate the Lindsey Wilson student-athletes as well as Dr. Bill Luckey, Willis Pooler and their entire coaching staff for their outstanding year,” Mid-South commissioner Steve Baker said.
Prior to the presentation of the President’s Cup, Baker announced the recipients of the conference’s athletic director of the year, the sports information director of the year and the media person of the year.
Pooler was voted on by his peers as the Mid-South Athletic Director of the Year.
Under his direction, Lindsey Wilson captured President’s Cup with 111 points. Six of his athletic programs won the regular season title and seven captured the conference tournament title in 2012-13.
The honor is Pooler’s fourth and second straight. Pooler earned the award in 2004-05 and 2006-07 and shared the award in 2011-12.
Cumberland University’s Jo Jo Freeman has been selected by his peers as the Bill Sergent Sports Information Director of the Year.
The honor is named after University of the Cumberlands’ former SID Bill Sergent, who served as the university’s sports information director for 24 years.
The Mid-South honor is Freeman’s first after Cumberland rejoined the Mid-South during the 2012-13 season. He was also selected as the TranSouth SID of the Year in 2011-12 when the Bulldogs were part of that conference.
Bryan Milam is the Mid-South Media Person of the Year as voted on by the conference’s sports information directors.
Milam is a member of the sports team at WKYT-TV in Lexington.
In 2009-10, Milam was a member of the WYMT-TV when they received the award.
“My sincere congratulations to Willis, Jo Jo and Bryan for earning their respective honors,” Baker said. “They continue to demonstrate outstanding service to their institutions and professions while promoting the Mid-South Conference - the very best conference in the NAIA.”
