PIKEVILLE – A young lady who helped found her high school’s bowling program has signed to compete at the University of Pikeville.
Jessica Frazier, a senior at Heath High School in Heath, Ohio, will bowl for the three-time national champions beginning this fall.
It was Frazier’s idea to start the bowling program at Heath. Her persistence paid off. “I went to the athletics director’s office nearly every day just to check if the answer changed,” Frazier said. “Finally, he let me do it.”
It has paid off for both the school and for Frazier.
“It gave students an opportunity to get involved in something different,” she said. “I was very happy to be a part of the team.”
Ron Damron, the two-time national Coach of the Year, is excited about adding Frazier to the roster. “Jessica will be very coachable,” said Damron. “We are looking for good things while she is a member of our program.”
She also excels musically. She is active in both the music and vocal departments at Heath. She has played in the All-Ohio State Fair Band at the Ohio State Fair. She plays flute but is also proficient on the piccolo, tenor saxophone, trombone, bass drum and piano.
