ALLEN - Allen Central prevailed over 58th District/Floyd County Conference foe South Floyd on Thursday, defeating the Raiders 10-6.
AC eighth-grader Steven Howard earned the win.
Tanner Hamilton, an Allen Central sophomore, claimed the save.
South Floyd senior pitcher Dakota Justice suffered the loss.
Offensive-heavy Allen Central scored 10 runs on 15 hits.
The Rebels committed two errors against a South Floyd team that manufactured six runs via only three hits.
Freshman Dustin Johnson delivered three hits and three RBIs for Allen Central in the district/conference victory.
Sophomore Coltin Parsons provided three hits and two RBIs for Allen Central in the victory.
Junior Handshoe, a junior for the Rebels, was also active offensively, connecting for two hits.
After each team went scoreless through the first two innings, South Floyd pushed across three runs in the top half of the third inning to move ahead 3-0.
Allen Central got two of the runs back in the bottom half of the second inning and after holding South Floyd scoreless in the top of the fourth, scored four runs to move ahead 6-3.
Allen Central edged South Floyd 4-3 in the fifth and sixth innings to add to its lead.
Junior Jimmy Helton led the South Floyd offense with two hits.
The Raiders committed four errors in the loss.
Allen Central completed a regular-season sweep of South Floyd. When the two teams met on April 22, Allen Central defeated South Floyd 11-0 in five innings.
