PRESTONSBURG — A local Prestonsburg business was treated to an impromptu visit this week, when a Miss America finalist stopped in for a visit.
Miss Kentucky Jessica Casebolt signed autographs and visited with store owners and community members during her brief visit to Lulu’s Boutique in downtown Prestonsburg Monday.
Casebolt, who is a Pikeville native, is an official spokesperson for Trollbeads, an assorted line of beaded bracelets and necklaces, which are carried by the boutique.
Casebolt said she was in the region visiting schools in Magoffin County. She is employed by the Kentucky Department of Agriculture to help promote the Kentucky Proud program, and said a lot of what she discusses with students is about buying local and visiting farmer’s markets.
“We talk a lot about good decision making, and Miss America is the largest scholarship program in America, so we promote a lot of scholarship, and we promote a lot of community service.”
Casebolt’s platform is heart health awarness. She also works with Children’s Miracle Network.
Casebolt finished second runner-up in Miss Kentucky Teen 2008. She won the volunteer service, top model, photogenic, talent, casual wear and spokes-model awards at Miss Kentucky Teen 2009. In Miss Kentucky Teen USA 2010, she was fourth runner-up.
Casebolt won the title of Miss Kentucky on July 14, when she received her crown from outgoing titleholder Ann-Blair Thornton. She made it into the Top 16 in the 2013 Miss America pageant.
