Archel Blackburn, age 85 of Prestonsburg, widower of Emma Jean Lewis Blackburn, passed away Friday, April 12, 2013, at the Riverview Health Care Center, in Prestonsburg.
He was born Jan. 16, 1928, at Johns Creek, a son of George Pete and Nora Justice Blackburn. He was a heavy equipment operator and a member of the Endicott Freewill Baptist Church.
Archel is survived by three sons, Rodney Blackburn, of Louisville, Ohio, Stevie Blackburn, of Prestonsburg, and Scottie Blackburn, of Prestonsburg; two daughters, Charlotte George, of Prestonsburg, and Debbie Burns, of Columbus, Ohio; three brothers, Orville Blackburn, of Salem, Ohio, Bill Chase Blackburn, of Salem, Ohio, and Leon Blackburn, of Lincoln Park, Mich.; three sisters, Rose Lee Hite, of Salem, Ohio, Avonell Hite, of Salem, Ohio, and Marieta Camatella, of Lincoln Park, Mich.; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, Archel was preceded in death by two sons, Gary Blackburn and Paul Blackburn; three brothers, George Blackburn, Ronnie Gene Blackburn and James Harvey Blackburn; a sister, Hilda Ousley; and a grandchild.
Funeral services for Archel Blackburn will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 16, in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, in Martin, with Jim Smith, Dave Garrett and Doug Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackburn Family Cemetery, in Prestonsburg. Visitation will be held all day, Monday, with a church service at 7 p.m.
