MARTIN — Traffic was stalled for more than an hour Tuesday following a rock fall on Route 80.
According to Kentucky State Police troopers, the rockslide occurred Tuesday morning a little after 8 a.m. The slide caused both the eastbound and westbound lanes of Route 80 to be closed for more than an hour, and traffic was rerouted along Route 1428 through the city of Martin.
No vehicles were involved in the slide, and no injuries were reported.
The slide occurred a short distance from the site of another such incident which occurred in 2008, when Wayland native Frank Baldridge was killed when a large rock fell and crushed the cab of the truck that Baldridge was driving.
Road crews with the Department of Transportations were forced to bring in an heavy loader Tuesday to help clear the road.
