Onita Jean McSurley, 84, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013, at 6:10 a.m., in Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw, Ind.
Onita was born Sept. 3, 1928, at Dwale, to Jack and Emma (Ellis) Osborne. On Jan. 21, 1946, she and Loni McSurley were married in Prestonsburg.
However, Onita lived most of her life in Kosciusko County, Ind. She was a packer for R.R. Donnelley and Sons Co. for 23 years, retiring in 1990.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Mary McShurley, of Warsaw, and Katherine and Jerry Ziegler, of Columbia City, Ind.; two sisters: Pat Wallace, of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Rebecca Goble, of Warsaw; a brother, William T. Osborne, of Cochran, Ga.; two grandchildren, Mark (and Becky) Ziegler, of Cory, Ind., and Kimberly Ziegler, of Winona Lake, Ind.; four great grandchildren, MacKenzie G. Ziegler, of Indianapolis, and Emily, Anna and Nathan Ziegler, at home.
Onita was preceded in death by her husband (August 4, 1992) and two brothers, Charles Osborne and an infant brother.
Family and friends gathered for a time of sharing Sunday, March 24, at Titus Funeral Home, in Warsaw. A service celebrating the life of Onita Jean McSurley took place Monday, March 25, beginning at 11 a.m., in the funeral home. Pastor Rick Stewart officiated. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery, in Warsaw.
