PIKEVILLE – A four-year letterman from southern Ohio has signed a scholarship agreement with the University of Pikeville.
Robby Vest, a senior at Chillicothe High School, has signed to bowl for Coach Kyle Wilson’s Bears next season.
Vest, who has a four-year average of 210 and also played three years on the school’s baseball team, was this year’s SCOC Bowler of the Year. It marked his third season of being a first-team All-SCOC selection after being named a second-team pick as a freshman.
Vest is a four-year qualifier for the Pepsi Tour and has been the high scorer during qualifying for the last three seasons. He finished second in the Midwest USA Adult-Junior Doubles Championships. As a junior, he qualified for the Ohio high school state finals.
In addition to his prowess on the lanes, Vest is also coming off a season on the baseball field that saw him selected to the SEOAL honorable-mention team.
Vest is an honor-roll student who has been named “Cav of the Semester” for success both in and out of the classroom. He’s a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society. He has completed four years in the school’s band, two years in orchestra and one year in choir.
The University of Pikeville bowling team will compete this weekend in the NAIA Invitational in Indianapolis, Ind., to wrap up the 2012-13 season.
