Clay Marvin Spradlin, 84 years of age, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013.
Born April 21, 1928, at Estill, he was the son of the late William R. (Willie) and Hazel Eunice Music Spradlin. Clay was a member of the Fitzpatrick First Baptist Church. He proudly served his country during World War II. He was also a coal miner, being employed with Martin County Coal.
Clay is survived by his wife, Evelyn Fraley Spradlin; two sons, Clay Dwain Spradlin and his wife, Marlene, of Stambaugh, and Paul Stephen Spradlin and his wife, Josie, of Louisa; two daughters, Patricia Spradlin Welch, of Prestonsburg, and Ruth Spradlin Gray and her husband, Denver, of Louisville; and five grandchildren, Jennifer Osberg and her husband, Jeff, Sandra Gray, Benjamin Welch, Clay Stephen Spradlin and Rebecca Clara Spradlin.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 14, with Pastor Tommy Reed officiating. Burial will follow in the Spradlin Cemetery, at Spradlin Branch, in Prestonsburg. Military graveside rites are to be conducted by the Big Sandy Chapter No. 18 Disabled American Veterans.
