Four face charges for heroin at federal prison

PIKEVILLE — Three federal inmates and one other person were indicted Friday on charges related to heroin within the U.S. Penitentiary Big Sandy.

In one indictment, inmate Michael Degrasse is charged with being in possession of heroin on Aug. 5, while a second person, Rashena Church, is accused of providing him with the drug.

In the remaining two indictments, Kelvin Dernard Badger and John Fitzgera Rice are each charged with being in possession of heroin while confined at the prison, July 3 and June 17, respectively.

Each of the individuals charged in the indictments faces up to 20 years in prison and $250,000 in fines, if convicted of the charges.
