NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The Alice Lloyd Eagles faced a tough challenge on the road over the weekend. Host IU Southeast pulled away to beat the Eagles 89-71 in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) contest.
IU Southeast, the frontrunner in the KIAC, moved to 19-2 overall and 9-0 in the KIAC.
With the loss, Alice Lloyd dropped to 9-17 overall and 2-11 in the KIAC.
Alice Lloyd led early. Homestanding IU Southeast, however, went on a 10-2 run midway through the first half. The Grenadiers eventually carried a 42-33 lead into halftime.
Alice Lloyd went on an 8-2 run early in the second half. But the Eagles couldn’t keep the momentum.
IU Southeast used a balanced attack to defeat the visiting Eagles. Jake Simpson paced IU Southeast with 18 points.
Stuart Stamper led Alice Lloyd with 20 points and eight rebounds. Terry Muse added 18 points and seven rebounds for the Eagles in the loss.
Alice Lloyd will entertain Asbury on Thursday. Tipoff for the Alice Lloyd-Asbury men’s basketball game is set for 8 p.m.
