PRESTONSBURG - The Tommy Brooks Eastern Kentucky Baseball Camp will be held on Saturday from 1-4 p.m. at the StoneCrest Baseball Facility. The camp will feature instruction in pitching, hitting, fielding and catching.
The camp is for players ages 8-14. Cost of the camp is $35. Checks for the camp should be made payable to Tommy Brooks. The camp fee includes a T-shirt.
The Camp staff will be made up of Tommy Brooks, David Rexroat, Jeff Parrett and Eddie Brooks. More on the camp staff follows.
Tommy Brooks has been been involved with baseball in Kentucky for over 35 years. He has had over 150 players play college baseball, along with 50 who played professionally. Brooks has coached four first round draft picks.
David Rexroat has been the head coach at Russell County High School for 11 years. He has won 10 district titles, two regional titles, finished runner-up in the region twice and had two squads complete play in the regional semifinals. Rexroat has coached 24 players who played college baseball, including several All-Americans.
Jeff Parrett had standout careers at Lafayette High School and the University of Kentucky. He was a Major League Baseball draft pick and pitched for several teams over a 10-year career.
Eddie Brooks also had stellar careers at Lafayette High School and the University of Kentucky. He currently holds the college record for slugging percentage (.719) and on-base percentage (.489). The Pittsburgh Pirates selected Eddie Brooks as a fifth round draft pick. He is now the head coach at Bryan Station High School, home of 2012 Kentucky Mr. Baseball Ryan Combs.
