BETSY LAYNE - The Betsy Layne Bobcats claimed their second straight win on Tuesday night, defeating 15th Region rival Pike County Central 51-47 at the Dome.
Betsy Layne moved to 13-6 after posting the win. The Bobcats are now 11-2 in the 15th Region.
Pike County Central slipped to .500, falling to 9-9 overall as a result of the loss. The Hawks have compiled an 8-2 record versus 15th Region foes.
Visiting Pike County Central had a two-game win streak snapped. The Hawks had won back-to-back games, notching wins over 60th District counterpart Belfry and River View (W.Va.).
The Bobcats entertained Pike County Central for the first matchup between the two familiar foes this season.
Betsy Layne shot 38.5 percent (20-of-52) from the field. The Bobcats were two-of-13 from 3-point range.
Betsy Layne overcame a sub-par performance from the free throw line. The Bobcats canned nine-of-19 foul shots, shooting only 47.4 percent from the charity stripe.
Junior guard Dylan Meade paced Betsy Layne with 17 points. Sophomore guard/forward Peyton Case accompanied Meade in double figures, adding 13 points for the Bobcats.
Dustin Rogers tossed in eight points and Dylan Hamilton scored six for Betsy Layne in the victory.
Andrew Tackett (four points), Dalton Meade (two points) and Lako Daniels (one point) also provided scoring for the Bobcats.
Hamilton hauled in a team-high seven rebounds for the Bobcats. Case secured six rebounds for Betsy Layne in the hard-fought win.
Defensively, Betsy Layne had 14 rebounds, 12 steals and three deflections.
Betsy Layne is scheduled to visit Greenup County on Friday night. Greenup County is under the guidance of first-year head coach Harold Tackett, a Floyd County native. Tip-off for the Betsy Layne-Greenup County boys’ basketball game is set for 7:30 p.m.
