PIKEVILLE – The University of Pikeville Weber Gallery is calling for entries for “Expressions of Nature,” a community-wide exhibit. Local artists, both professional and student, are invited to submit their creative projects for inclusion in the exhibit.
The theme of all entries should reflect the artist’s interpretation of “Expressions of Nature” and must be original works of art. Artists must be at least 16 years old.
The exhibit will open Monday, April 15, and will run through May 10. A reception will be held Wednesday, April 24, in the gallery.
“There is definite hope to continue to encourage and to continue to build an artistic community,” said Patricia Kowalok, professor of art. “With this exhibit, we hope to highlight our own students’ endeavors in the visual arts, encourage area high school students to promote their own vision and support the visual artists in this area.”
Entries will be accepted beginning in April. The deadline for entries is noon on April 6. Art specifications include all 2D works on paper, including photography and paintings no larger than five feet, and 3D works less than 50 pounds and three feet.
