PIPPA PASSES - Sophomore sharpshooter JJ Hickson connected on five-of-nine attempts from long range to spark the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles to a big 67-53 come-from-behind win over the visiting Ohio Christian University Lady Trailblazers on Saturday.
Alice Lloyd thrived in the opening half. The Lady Eagles managed to carry a 32-22 lead into halftime.
OCU, however, opened up the last half with seven quick points. The Lady Trailblazers used the newfound momentum to outscore the host team 18-3 in the first 5:40. OCU eventually led 40-35 with 14:10 remaining.
Ohio Christian held on to a lead until 6:42 left. Hickson connected on a big bucket to tie the score. Then, Ariel Nickell followed with two important free throws and a short jumper.
The Lady Eagles went on to close the game on an 18-4 run to seal the win.
For ALC (7-4), Hickson led all scorers with 20 points. Ariel Nickell pumped in 17 points and added 13 rebounds for the Lady Eagles. Nickel also dished out four assists for the ALC women’s team.
