PITTSBURGH - Point Park turned back visiting Alice Lloyd in a KIAC men’s basketball game on Wednesday, defeating the Eagles 118-83.
Point Park thrived early, leading 15-2 after five minutes. The Pioneers hit seven of 10 field goal attempts, along with a pair of three-pointers. Alice Lloyd struggled offensively, draining only one-of-11 attempts.
The Eagles responded with a 15-2 run of their own to tie the score at 17-17 with 10:47 to go in the first half. Point Park, however, outscored Alice 40-20 before halftime to lead 57-37 at the intermission.
The Pioneers scored 61 points in the final 20 minutes and sank 10 of their 15 3-point field goal attempts in the second half to secure the win.
Junior point guard Isaac Wilson paced Alice Lloyd (4-5, 0-1 KIAC) with a team-high 23 points. Senior center Terry Muse added 19 points and 13 rebounds for the Eagles.
Alice Lloyd guards Justin Hobbs, Stuart Stamper and Cody Stumbo chipped in with 11, 10, and 10 points, respectively. Hobbs also dished out four assists for the Eagles.
Matt Noszka led Point Park (5-1, 1-0 KIAC) with a game-high 32 points.
Point Park shot 52 percent in the winning effort.
Alice Lloyd shot 47 percent in the setback.
