PRESTONSBURG — A rally against drug addiction will be held Sunday, with organizers promising free food and entertainment, while hoping to impart a positive message.
Communities Against Drug Addiction will hole the rally at 1 p.m., in the Prestonsburg Municipal Parking Lot.
CADA member Leslie Howell said the group hopes to get support from all over Floyd County.
“We just want to encourage people from our communities in all of Floyd County to get involved …” Howell said. “Through unity, maybe we can do something about this problem.”
The theme of the rally is “Aim for drug-free communities.” It is then perhaps fitting that part of the entertainment at the rally will be an archery demonstration. Also scheduled to perform is Dance Etc., and there will be inspirational speakers and singing.
Like other events CADA has held, Pit Stop BBQ will be on hand Sunday to provide guests with free food.
Organizers are hoping to attract church and school groups, and Howell said she also hopes to see support from local leaders.
“We want to enourage our elected officials at the city, county or whatever level, and people running for office, to come out and support this rally,” Howell said.
Howell said any officials or candidates who attend would be recognized during the event.
