HI HAT - The South Floyd Raiders fell behind early at home on Friday night. Visiting Shelby Valley pulled away to defeat South Floyd 52-16 at Raider Field.
South Floyd slipped to 2-3 after suffering the loss.
Shelby Valley improved to 3-2 after posting its second straight win.
High-powered Shelby Valley scored 52 or more points for the third time this season. Shelby Valley also won for the third time in four outings.
After being limited in a shutout loss to rejuvenated Morgan County one week earlier, South Floyd running back Weston Little rushed 27 times for 172 yards and one touchdown.
As a team, South Floyd rushed for 222 yards.
The Raiders also managed to pick up yardage through the air. Three different South Floyd players completed at least one pass. South Floyd quarterback Jacob Crager completed nine-of-10 passes for 134 yards. Another player, Hunter Johnson, completed his lone pass attempt for a 26-yard touchdown to Little.
Corey Thornsberry led South Floyd in receiving, claiming five catches for 65 yards.
Blake Dye led the South Floyd defense with five tackles. Josh Clemons, Jimmy Helton, Jarrett Little and Thornsberry added four tackles each for the Raiders.
South Floyd will visit much-improved Bracken County (4-1) this week. Bracken County opened the season 4-0 before dropping its first game to Dayton last week.
